Children's Bereavement Program
Mission
Our mission is founded on the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to grieve in a supportive and understanding environment, we strive to provide families in the Skagit County area and surrounding region loving support in a safe place where children, teens, and their families grieving a death can share their experience as they move through the healing process.
Summary
Grieving is nature’s path to healing. Affected by early loss, youth carry maladaption forward affecting their lives, and those that follow. At United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley, WA, we are creating a safe haven in a physical sense. This setting, along with skilled volunteers will foster good grief--not as Charlie Brown would see it--but as a means to a healthy adaptation. Children lose more than front teeth, they lose parents, limbs, safety. Many children come through our hospital and through surrounding area health care systems. Currently, there is no safety net to help them adapt to loss.
